College Football Week 4 Picks (2026)

College Football Week 4 Picks (2026)

Week 4 brings another strong slate of college football games, and our three bets focus on ranked matchups where recent results don't necessarily tell the entire story.

Our College Football Week 4 picks are Texas -5.5 against Tennessee, Florida -3.5 against Ole Miss, and Oregon -3 against USC. Each play comes down to a combination of matchup data, strength of schedule, and what we've learned through the opening three weeks.

Texas has already been tested by Ohio State. Florida is coming off an impressive road win over Auburn. Oregon, meanwhile, gets an opportunity to prove its 84-0 rebound was the beginning of a turnaround rather than simply a blowout of an overmatched opponent.

College Football Week 4 Picks and Predictions

Our three best college football picks for Week 4 are:

  • Texas -5.5 vs. Tennessee
  • Florida -3.5 vs. Ole Miss
  • Oregon -3 vs. USC

There are reasons to be cautious with all three favorites. Tennessee is undefeated, Ole Miss just earned a major win over LSU, and USC enters Week 4 at 4-0. But when we dig deeper into the matchups, there are reasons to believe the market may be giving too much weight to those early records.

Here's the analysis behind our Week 4 college football predictions.

CFB Week 4 Pick #1: Texas -5.5 vs. Tennessee

Pick: Texas -5.5

Texas and Tennessee both enter Week 4 undefeated, but the path each team took to 3-0 matters.

The Longhorns have already faced Ohio State, a top-10 team in our rankings, in addition to Texas State and UTSA. Tennessee opened against Furman, faced Georgia Tech, and then played Kennesaw State.

That difference in competition is a major part of why we're comfortable laying 5.5 points with Texas.

The supplied matchup data makes the game interesting because Tennessee's offense has produced outstanding raw numbers through three games. The Volunteers are averaging 510.3 total yards and 6.3 touchdowns, placing them in the 89th and 93rd percentiles, respectively.

Tennessee has been particularly dangerous on the ground, averaging 298.7 rushing yards, which ranks in the 97th percentile. The Volunteers have also averaged 3.7 rushing touchdowns.

Those numbers deserve respect. They also need context.

Tennessee accumulated them against a much softer opening schedule. Texas has already experienced the speed and physicality of a national contender against Ohio State.

The Longhorns' defense has held opponents to 287.7 total yards per game and just one touchdown per game in the supplied matchup data. Texas has been especially difficult to score on through the air, allowing only 0.3 passing touchdowns per game.

So while Tennessee's offense has the statistical advantage in several categories, this is its first opportunity to prove those numbers translate against a defense of Texas' caliber.

That's the core of the bet.

We're not discounting Tennessee's 3-0 start. We're questioning how predictive those offensive numbers are when the level of competition changes dramatically.

Why we're taking Texas: The raw matchup statistics are relatively competitive, but Texas has already been tested against significantly stronger competition. We're backing that strength of schedule and the Longhorns' defense to make the difference.

CFB Week 4 Pick #2: Florida -3.5 vs. Ole Miss

Pick: Florida -3.5

This is our opportunity to sell high on Ole Miss immediately after the Rebels' biggest win of the season.

Ole Miss beat LSU 32-24 in an emotional game in Oxford, sending the Rebels soaring up the national rankings. Trinidad Chambliss was excellent, and the victory established Ole Miss as a legitimate SEC contender.

But we're not ready to treat Ole Miss like one of the four best teams in the country based on one result.

Our own College Football Week 4 Rankings have Ole Miss at No. 3 because of what the Rebels have accomplished, but power rankings and betting numbers answer different questions. For this matchup specifically, Florida -3.5 is the side we prefer.

Florida is also coming off an important SEC victory, beating Auburn 44-39 on the road.

More importantly, the Gators' offensive matchup against Ole Miss stands out immediately.

According to the supplied HOF data, Florida's offense is averaging 544.3 total yards, ranking in the 98th percentile, compared with an Ole Miss defense allowing 373.7.

Florida is also averaging 7.0 total touchdowns, 298.3 passing yards and 246 rushing yards. The rushing matchup is especially appealing: Florida's 246 rushing yards rank in the 88th percentile, while Ole Miss has allowed 159 per game.

The Gators are averaging four rushing touchdowns, placing them in the 96th percentile.

That's a major consideration for a Florida team that has been getting excellent production from its ground game.

There's also a situational angle here. Ole Miss just played an emotionally charged game against LSU and Lane Kiffin, won it, and immediately received national recognition for the result.

Now the Rebels have to reset for another SEC opponent.

That doesn't mean Ole Miss automatically plays poorly. It does mean we're reluctant to inflate our evaluation of the Rebels based on the emotional high of one major victory.

Florida's offense has enough advantages in this matchup to test whether Ole Miss' rapid rise has gone a little too far.

Why we're taking Florida: The Gators have an excellent offensive matchup, particularly on the ground, and we're willing to fade Ole Miss immediately after an emotional win that dramatically elevated the perception of the Rebels.

College Football Week 4 Prediction: Florida -3.5

CFB Week 4 Pick #3: Oregon -3 vs. USC

Pick: Oregon -3

Oregon's season has already been a roller coaster.

The Ducks barely escaped Boise State in Week 1, were upset 39-31 by Oklahoma State in Week 2, and then responded by absolutely dismantling Portland State 84-0.

Now we get to find out whether Oregon is actually turning the corner.

USC is undefeated at 4-0, but its most recent performance created some significant concerns. The Trojans escaped Rutgers with a 42-35 victory despite allowing 460 total yards.

That defensive performance is difficult to ignore when Oregon is the next opponent.

The HOF matchup data illustrates exactly why.

Over its past three games, Oregon's offense is averaging 501.3 total yards, placing it in the 87th percentile. The Ducks are averaging 6.7 touchdowns, good for the 96th percentile.

The passing matchup is even more striking.

Oregon is averaging 340.7 passing yards, ranking in the 95th percentile, while USC's defense has allowed 193.7. The Ducks are also producing four passing touchdowns per game, which ranks in the 96th percentile.

Oregon holds a substantial offensive advantage in nearly every category shown in the supplied matchup data.

The Ducks have the edge in total yards, total touchdowns, passing yards, passing touchdowns and rushing touchdowns. USC's best relative defensive category is against the run, but even there the Trojans haven't shown an overwhelming advantage.

That makes last week's performance against Rutgers particularly concerning.

If USC had difficulty containing that offense, Oregon has the personnel and production to create an entirely different level of stress.

The obvious counterargument is Oregon's loss to Oklahoma State. We're not ignoring it. It's the primary reason Oregon sits only No. 20 in our Week 4 rankings despite having the talent of a much higher-ranked team.

But betting is about what happens next, not simply rewarding the team with the cleaner résumé.

Oregon's 84-0 win doesn't prove the Ducks have fixed everything. It does suggest they responded to their first loss exactly as a talented team should.

Now they have a chance to prove the turnaround is real.

Why we're taking Oregon: USC's defense showed major vulnerability against Rutgers, and the matchup data heavily favors an Oregon offense producing elite passing and scoring numbers.

College Football Week 4 Prediction: Oregon -3

Best College Football Picks for Week 4

Our Week 4 CFB picks all involve favorites, but the reasoning behind each bet is different.

Texas -5.5 is primarily a strength-of-schedule play. Tennessee's offensive statistics are impressive, but the Volunteers haven't been tested the way Texas already has.

Florida -3.5 is a matchup and situational play. The Gators have major offensive advantages in the supplied data, while Ole Miss enters immediately after an emotional victory over LSU that sent expectations soaring.

Oregon -3 is about buying a talented team after a potential course correction. USC remains undefeated, but giving up 460 yards to Rutgers is a significant warning sign before facing an Oregon offense averaging more than 500 yards over its past three games.

Final College Football Week 4 Predictions

Week 4 is a good example of why college football betting requires more context than simply looking at the standings.

Tennessee is undefeated and putting up huge offensive numbers, but Texas has already faced substantially stronger competition. That's why we're laying Texas -5.5.

Ole Miss just earned one of the season's biggest wins, but Florida presents another difficult matchup immediately afterward. The Gators' offensive numbers — especially their rushing production — give us enough reason to take Florida -3.5.

And while USC is 4-0 and Oregon already has a loss, the underlying matchup tells a different story. Oregon's explosive passing offense gets a USC defense coming off a shaky performance against Rutgers, making Oregon -3 our third play.

That gives us our three College Football Week 4 picks and predictions for 2026: Texas -5.5, Florida -3.5 and Oregon -3.
