College Football Week 3 Picks (2026)

Week 3 brings one of the best college football betting slates of the young 2026 season, with LSU-Ole Miss, Florida State-Alabama, and Miami-Wake Forest among the games we're targeting.

We enter the week with a 5-4 record on our college football picks this season. You can look back at our College Football Week 2 Picks to see how we approached last week's card.

Our College Football Week 3 picks attack three different markets: a first-half favorite, a sizable road underdog, and a home underdog in a top-10 SEC matchup.

College Football Week 3 Picks and Predictions

Our three best college football picks for Week 3 are:

  • Miami 1st Half -9.5 vs. Wake Forest
  • Florida State +19.5 vs. Alabama
  • Ole Miss +3 vs. LSU

Each pick is based on a different matchup angle. Miami has the opportunity to create early separation, Florida State is getting nearly three touchdowns, and Ole Miss gets points at home against an LSU team that has shown some offensive volatility.

Here's the analysis behind our Week 3 college football predictions.

CFB Week 3 Pick #1: Miami 1st Half -9.5 vs. Wake Forest

Pick: Miami 1st Half -9.5

Rather than laying a much larger number for the entire game, our preferred way to back Miami is Hurricanes -9.5 in the first half.

Miami's combination of offensive explosiveness and defensive efficiency creates the potential for the Hurricanes to establish control early.

The matchup data particularly favors Miami on the defensive side. The Hurricanes' defense ranks in the 91st percentile in rushing plus receiving yards allowed (294.1) and the 96th percentile in rushing yards allowed (89.3). Miami also ranks in the 96th percentile in touchdowns allowed, 93rd percentile in passing touchdowns allowed, and 92nd percentile in rushing touchdowns allowed.

Wake Forest's offensive profile is much closer to average. The Demon Deacons sit in the 54th percentile in rushing plus receiving yards, 48th percentile in total touchdowns, 57th percentile in passing yards, and 49th percentile in rushing yards.

Wake Forest vs Miami College Football Week 3 Picks

That's a significant overall defensive advantage for Miami.

Darian Mensah also gives the Hurricanes an offense capable of turning defensive stops into quick separation. His efficiency through the opening portion of the season has been a major part of Miami's strong start, while Wake Forest's pass defense presents a matchup the Hurricanes should be able to attack.

There are still reasons to be cautious. Wake Forest quarterback Gio Lopez adds a dual-threat dimension, and Miami enters the matchup dealing with injuries in the secondary.

But those concerns matter more when evaluating the full-game spread. For our purposes, we're looking for Miami to establish its talent advantage early and enter halftime ahead by double digits.

Why we're taking Miami: Miami has a major defensive advantage across the supplied matchup data, while its explosive passing attack gives the Hurricanes a path to create separation quickly.

College Football Week 3 Prediction: Miami 1st Half -9.5

CFB Week 3 Pick #2: Florida State +19.5 vs. Alabama

Pick: Florida State +19.5

Alabama may be the better team, but Florida State +19.5 gives us nearly three touchdowns to work with.

The Crimson Tide's 45-17 victory over Kentucky looks dominant in the final box score. The game itself was much less comfortable early, with Alabama trailing 17-14 at halftime before completely taking over in the second half.

That's important when evaluating such a large spread.

If Alabama starts slowly again, Florida State could remain within striking distance deep enough into the game to make covering nearly 20 points difficult.

The matchup data also shows why the Seminoles shouldn't be dismissed offensively.

Florida State's offense ranks in the 96th percentile in rushing plus receiving yards (472.1) and the 83rd percentile in total touchdowns (4.3). The Seminoles have been especially productive on the ground, ranking in the 91st percentile with 218.7 rushing yards and the 90th percentile with 2.6 rushing touchdowns.

Alabama's defense is legitimately strong. The Crimson Tide rank in the 90th percentile in yards allowed and are particularly impressive against the pass, ranking in the 93rd percentile in passing yards allowed.

Alabama vs Florida State College Football Week 3 Picks

But Florida State doesn't need to dominate Alabama's defense to cash this ticket.

The Seminoles simply need to produce enough sustained offense to stay inside a number approaching three touchdowns.

Quarterback Thomas Castellanos provides another reason to like the underdog. His mobility gives Florida State an option when Alabama creates pressure, allowing him to extend plays, scramble for first downs, and potentially keep drives alive.

Florida State also enters the matchup with additional preparation time following an early-season bye. That gives Mike Norvell extra time to build a game plan specifically for Alabama and address issues from the Seminoles' previous performance.

There's also some familiarity between these programs after Florida State beat Alabama 31-17 last season. That result doesn't guarantee anything about this matchup, but it reinforces that Florida State shouldn't enter Tuscaloosa intimidated by the opponent.

Why we're taking Florida State: Nearly 20 points gives us substantial room with a team capable of running the football, extending drives with a mobile quarterback, and potentially taking advantage if Alabama starts slowly again.

College Football Week 3 Prediction: Florida State +19.5

CFB Week 3 Pick #3: Ole Miss +3 vs. LSU

Pick: Ole Miss +3

Our final CFB Week 3 pick comes in arguably the biggest game on the slate.

LSU enters Oxford as a short favorite, but we're taking Ole Miss +3 at home.

Ole Miss has enough offensive talent to prevent LSU from simply controlling the game with superior personnel. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and running back Kewan Lacy give the Rebels a dangerous backfield capable of stressing LSU in multiple ways.

Chambliss is especially important because of what he can create outside structure. His combination of passing and rushing makes it harder for LSU to dictate the game defensively.

We've also already seen him succeed in this matchup. Ole Miss beat LSU 24-19 last season, with Chambliss producing both through the air and on the ground.

LSU's biggest concern is ball security.

The Tigers were able to overcome multiple early turnovers against Louisiana Tech, including three first-half interceptions, and still pull away. Ole Miss is a very different opponent.

Giving away possessions on the road against a top-10 team can completely change the game.

The supplied matchup data provides another argument for taking the points.

Ole Miss' defense holds the statistical advantage over LSU's offense in several categories. LSU's offense sits in the 18th percentile in rushing plus receiving yards (333.5) and 14th percentile in total touchdowns (2.5). Ole Miss' defense grades substantially better in both categories.

LSU vs Ole Miss College Football Week 3 Picks

The Rebels also have favorable defensive numbers against LSU's passing production and passing touchdowns.

LSU's ground game is the area that presents more concern, so Ole Miss will need to avoid allowing the Tigers to control the game on early downs. But overall, this doesn't look like an offensive matchup where LSU should automatically be expected to create separation.

Then there's the environment.

Lane Kiffin's return to Oxford adds another layer to an already significant SEC game. With LSU coming into Ole Miss as a highly ranked opponent, the atmosphere should create a difficult road setting for the Tigers.

We're not necessarily saying Ole Miss wins outright. At +3, we don't need them to.

Why we're taking Ole Miss: Home-field advantage, LSU's recent turnover issues, Ole Miss' offensive playmakers, and favorable matchup data make taking a field goal with the Rebels attractive.

College Football Week 3 Prediction: Ole Miss +3

Best College Football Picks for Week 3

We're 5-4 on our college football picks this season entering Week 3, and this card gives us three very different ways to attack the board.

Miami 1H -9.5 is a bet on early separation. The Hurricanes have significant defensive advantages in the matchup data and enough offensive firepower to build a double-digit lead without requiring them to cover a massive full-game spread.

Florida State +19.5 is our value underdog. Alabama remains the stronger team, but Florida State's rushing production, quarterback mobility, and additional preparation time make nearly three touchdowns difficult to pass up.

Ole Miss +3 is our home-underdog play. LSU has looked like a legitimate contender, but turnovers become far more dangerous against a talented SEC opponent on the road.

Final College Football Week 3 Predictions

We're 5-4 on college football picks this season, and Week 3 gives us three opportunities built around very different betting angles.

Miami first half -9.5 is our play on early dominance. The Hurricanes have the offensive firepower to create separation quickly, and their defensive matchup against Wake Forest is favorable across several important categories.

Florida State +19.5 is our value underdog. Alabama can absolutely win this game convincingly, but asking the Crimson Tide to cover nearly three touchdowns against a rested Florida State team is a much different proposition.

Finally, we're taking Ole Miss +3 against LSU. The Tigers remain one of the country's top teams, but recent turnover problems, a difficult road environment, and Ole Miss' offensive talent make the points valuable.

That leaves us with our three College Football Week 3 picks and predictions for 2026: Miami 1H -9.5, Florida State +19.5, and Ole Miss +3.
