How to Use the HOF App: Parlay Optimizer

Introduction
If you’re reading this guide, props to you (no pun intended). By signing up for Hall of Fame (HOF), you’re already well on your way to becoming a smarter and more data driven sports bettor.
Our goal at HOF is to provide you with the analytics you need to bet with confidence, have fun with the process, and hopefully win more too! When looking at the market to see which app is best to calculate parlay and odds, traditional apps only show you the simple math behind a payout. HOF changes that approach by evaluating the actual likelihood of your legs hitting based on real, multi-season trend data. By signing up, you are moving past simple payout math and unlocking deep historical probabilities so you can build smarter tickets.
If you are looking for more information on any of our other features, simply click its name and you will be directed to its respective tutorial.
Currently, we offer five tools per sport:
- Home
Get an overview of any and all upcoming games with the home page. Clicking on any game will give you a high-level overview of the matchup, breaking down the most crucial stats and highlighting the players to look out for.
- Deep Stats
Look up any player or team to view in depth analytics showing hit rates, charts, game logs, and matchup info. Apply powerful filters like H2H, playoffs, minutes played, with or without teammates, opponent strength, and more to slice and dice the data.
- Parlay Optimizer (You are here)
Enter any SGP or SGP+ you're considering and get innovative analytics with hit rates broken down by leg and projected probability for the parlay. Get insights on which legs to cut and which to increase, based on the cold hard data.
- Leaderboards
View player rankings by hit rate for any prop you'd like to research (for example, 25+ points or 10+ rebounds) over the entire season or recent time frames (last 5, last 10, last 20 games) to get an idea of which players are on hot streaks.
- Trends
View the most valuable plays currently being offered by sportsbooks, sorted by edge. This tool breaks down the differences between the implied odds of lines being offered by sportsbooks and their historical hit rates to bring you strong plays to add to your betslip.
We’ll walk you through how to use each tool using examples along the way. HOF Bets is the shiny new weapon in your sports betting arsenal, and this article is a training session to prepare you for optimal performance next time you bet.
SGP Meaning and Basics
If you are new to sports betting analytics, you might ask: “what does SGP mean in betting?” The simple SGP meaning is a Same Game Parlay, which allows you to combine multiple player props or outcomes from a single matchup into one wager.
Once you understand the baseline setup, you can look at advanced combinations like SGP+ or SGPx. This feature allows you to take a same game parlay from one matchup and combine it with player props, spreads, or moneylines from completely different games on the slate. It builds a multi-game ticket out of single-game combinations, letting you stack your favorite angles across the entire day of sports.
Parlay Optimizer
The Parlay Optimizer is our landmark feature and for good reason — using this tool you can put together any conceivable parlay and dive into its chances of hitting. This tool, while powerful on its own, is best used in conjunction with the rest of our toolset.
It is for this reason that the actual building of parlays comes from our other tabs. By doing this, we limit the redundancy of our features, but also encourage a more thorough research process, designed to bring you better success in your betting journey.
You may be asking, “How do I get bets added to my bet slip?” Allow me to show you how!
Across all of our tools, the functionality is much the same. Whenever you see odds offered, you can click that and it will automatically move your bet over to your betslip. For example, if you were to click on any of the odds displayed below, it would add the bet for you.
In some places, there may not be odds offered for a given bet. In that case, you can still add it to your betslip by clicking where the odds would be, such as this example from Stats.
Leaders will generally be a convenient place for adding bets, as they will all be listed on top of each other, such as is displayed here.
Finally, you will know that you have successfully added something to your betslip when you see the dropdown notification of a bet being added successfully, as we see below from the Trends tab. In addition to this notification, the number in the corner of the Parlay tab will increment, so whatever it showed before will be one greater upon a successful addition like this.
Now that we understand how to prepare parlays for this tool, let's dive into more of the functionality that this tool uniquely offers us.
Whether you are building a simple 2 leg parlay or a massive ticket, analyzing how individual stats interact is critical. This is especially true when setting up an nba same game parlay. If you want to lock in a same game parlay nba slates offer massive variance, meaning your picks need to be backed by hard trend data.
Our optimizer specializes in breaking down a correlated parlay, showing you whether two player stats historically happen together or if they pull usage away from each other
To breakdown all of the power that the Parlay Optimizer offers us, we have put together a Same Game Parlay for an upcoming Thursday Night Football game between the New Orleans Saints and the Denver Broncos.
We have put together a three-leg parlay, which has been pretty successful on the year, hitting in 42% of games which gives it implied odds of +140. A useful component of how we display parlays is that you can see the hit rates of each individual leg, each same game parlay, and the entire parlay put together. So, in an instance like this, if you wanted to look at just how the Saints players have performed together, you could toggle the view to show their lines like this:
Despite both players hitting their line in 4 out of 6 games, it looks like these did not overlap perfectly, making this smaller SGP have the lower hit rate of 50%. We can see how things turned out by clicking on Charts, which will produce game logs for us like this:
One of the most convenient features of the Parlay Optimizer is whenever you are ready to put in your parlay, or simply if you just want to see how the odds compare to the historical data, with the click of one button you can load your bets into your favorite sportsbook. Below is the portion of the screen that manages your betslip integration.
From here, we can see that all three of these lines are currently being offered on DraftKings, so let's go ahead and click on that button. Doing so opens up the DraftKings app for us, with the betslip preloaded.
As we can see here, we have pretty good value on this play based off our first look at things. On the season, our parlay had odds of +140, which means there is a decent amount of edge.
However, it can be good to look at any other factors that might be at play here. For instance, let's expand our time horizon to look at the past two seasons and see how that changes things:
This view makes things appear less favorable, though still within a positive EV range based on what we have seen. From here, we can begin toggling around different time spans and apply filters, until we feel confident in the data that we are examining.
In order to apply a filter, all you need to do is click the blue toggle icon and you will have access to a rich set of options for narrowing down this play. For example, here is how our data changes if we apply a filter for Opponents Defensive Rank, which will filter to include only games against similarly ranked opponents.
When applying that filter, our play looks much stronger! It is up to you to decide how much value to apply into these different factors, but that is part of the magic of this tool — if you think it might be important to the game, then we have it available to you.
Finally, there is one more important aspect of the process: sometimes you might want to change or delete a line. We have a convenient menu for doing this to individual lines: all you need to do is click the three dots next to a play and you will have options for editing or deleting a line.
The Parlay Optimizer is the crowning jewel of what we do here at Hall of Fame.
