What are Player Prop Bets?
Player prop bets, often called “props,” focus on individual players' actions rather than the overall game result. They're popular in various sports, especially in football. In the NFL, these bets zoom in on specific player achievements like a quarterback's touchdowns, a running back's total yards, or a receiver's catches. You'll find two kinds of NFL player props. The first, statistical props, involve actual game numbers—think touchdowns or yards. The second, non-statistical props, include bets like whether a player will score the first touchdown.

Looking for a place to try these out? Head over to a major sportsbook. For instance, DraftKings Sportsbook offers a menu of bets for any NFL game. If you're interested in this weekend's Arizona Cardinals vs. Cleveland Browns game, check out the TD Scorers tab for various scoring options. If stats are more your thing, the Rush/Rec Props tab will guide you to bets on carries, receptions, or total yards. These prop bets add a thrilling layer to NFL game-watching, as fans and bettors focus on individual players' achievements.

The Lineup for Today:
This week we have a jam-packed slate of games, starting with the Chiefs taking on the Dolphins in Germany, the Raiders hosting the Giants, the Bears traveling to the Saints, and finishing off with the Seahawks at the Ravens. In our lineup for the day, we are picking one wide receiver to continue his rise to stardom, an established running back to continue his hot play, one veteran quarterback to go over his passing line yet again, and finally a same game parlay featuring two of the best players at the running back and tight end position. Though we are suggesting these as individual NFL Player Props, they do line up incredibly well if you are interested in playing them together as a parlay. DraftKings currently is offering this parlay with odds of +1614, but over the past three games, this mega-parlay has hit in all three games.

Rashee Rice o46.5 Receiving Yards (-110) (DK) | NFL Player Prop
The Chiefs take on the Dolphins in Germany, giving us an early morning treat between two of the most dynamic offenses in the entire league. One of the key weapons for the Chiefs has been a surprise this year, but one that is coming on spectacularly over the past month: wide receiver Rashee Rice. The SMU product has gone from the fringes of Patrick Mahomes’ reads to one of his go-to options and the numbers are beginning to speak for themself: over the past five games, Rice has cleared this line 60% of the time, all coming in the last three games.

In this stretch, Rice has not just been over the line, he has been flying well past it. In his last three games, Rice has maintained an average of 62.7 yards per game, giving him a comfortable margin over where this line sits. With his role growing more prominent each week, Rice is on the verge of becoming a household name and will continue to soar past these lines.

Saquon Barkley o75.5 Rushing Yards (-120) (DK) | NFL Player Prop
Since his return from injury, Barkley has played some of his best football in years. The running back has been putting the Giants on his back, particularly as the team has rotated through quarterbacks with Daniel Jones missing the past three games due to a neck injury and his replacement Tyrod Taylor now heading to the IR with a rib injury. The one constant has been the dynamic playstyle of Barkley, making his presence felt both through the air and on the ground. He is in the midst of his best stretch of the year, clearing this line in three games straight.

Over these past three games, Barkley’s inspired play has led him to an average of 99.3 rushing yards per game. This gives him a comfortable margin of over 20 yards against his line for this game, which should inspire some more confidence in his ability to cover this line today even without his absolute best performance.

Best of all, Barkley is facing one of the best possible matchups he could hope for in the Raiders. Las Vegas is currently ranked as the 30th-worst rushing defense in the league in terms of yards allowed. The Raiders are currently allowing 120.4 yards on the ground to running backs, regularly giving up big numbers to talented players such as Barkley. With this fantastic matchup and the incredible form Barkley is experiencing, this should be an easy one for the Giants star to achieve.

Derek Carr o253.5 Passing Yards (-115) (DK) | Player Prop
The Saints currently find themselves locked at the top of the NFC South with the Falcons, both teams sitting at records of 4-4. A major factor in them staying afloat in the division has been the pure output of their new starting quarterback, Derek Carr. The former Raider has begun putting up some fantastic numbers, particularly since the return of star running back Alvin Kamara. Over this stretch of five games, Carr has managed to hit this line in three, all coming in his last three.

Over this stretch of three games, Carr is averaging a fantastic 321.3 passing yards per game, putting his average miles over where his line sits for this matchup. The return of Kamara has been a revelation for the quarterback, giving him one of the best checkdown options in the entire league and padding his numbers in spots that he may not have been able to find an option previously.

The best indicator of Carr’s ability to hit his over in this game, however, is the opposition he is facing. The Bears have been one of the worst passing defenses in the entire league, currently ranked 30th and allowing 262.3 yards through the air each game. Chicago has been torched week in and week out and with Carr hitting well over 300 yards per game over the past few games, this should be largely a similar story for the struggling team. All this considered, Carr has as good of a shot as any quarterback in the league to hit his over today when factoring his recent play and the matchup he finds himself with.

Seattle Seahawks @ Baltimore Ravens (+162) | Same Game Parlay
We are going to be featuring one parlay which we believe has great upside potential for this slate. This week we are going to look at the Seattle Seahawks traveling to the Baltimore Ravens. This game features some of the most talented skill positions in the league and we are featuring one from each side in this two-leg parlay: first Kenneth Walker to rush for over 51.5 yards and second Mark Andrews to record 40 or more yards receiving. Walker has been unstoppable this year for the Seahawks, crushing his line week in and week out. Though Baltimore does boast one of the stronger defenses in the league, Walker has been seemingly matchup-proof this year and should be able to cruise past this line, which is comparatively low for the talented back. On the other side of the ball, Mark Andrews is back and performing well alongside his former MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson. As a safety net for Jackson, Andrews always finds a way to get open and should be able to pass this line with ease. Regardless of how the game goes, both these players play such an essential role within their offense that their progress towards these lines feels rather assured.
In review, we are taking:
- Kenneth Walker o51.5 Rushing Yards
- Mark Andrews 40+ Receiving Yards
This is currently being offered for +162 on DraftKings, but running it through our parlay optimizer, over the last three games, this parlay has hit 100% of the time.

If you prefer to look at a longer time horizon, this bet has also hit in 100% of the last five games.

Looking at the entire year, this bet has still hit in a resounding 73% of games, giving it implied odds of -275.

Why Bet on NFL Player Props?
Why engage in NFL player prop betting? It injects an extra thrill into football viewing. Unlike standard bets on teams, player props dive into the actual performances on the field. They offer more predictability and are less swayed by the crowd's opinion. With a deep understanding of a player's capabilities, you can use your insights effectively. Plus, it heightens the excitement of each game, as every action could tip the scales of your wager. Remember, responsible betting is key, but enjoy the additional excitement that player props bring to each NFL game.
In wrapping up, NFL player prop bets offer an interactive, personalized touch to professional football. They allow enthusiasts to go beyond scores, focusing on player stats and performances. As a significant force in today's sports betting scene, a firm grasp of NFL player props is a must-have for any serious bettor or football fan. Strategies for Selecting Winning NFL Player Prop Bets
Embarking on the journey of NFL player prop betting requires a blend of skill, insight, and strategy. Here are key tactics to help you navigate this exciting landscape and make informed bets:
- Player Performance Analysis: Delve into recent performances of players. Consider factors like injuries, recovery status, and consistency. A player on a hot streak or facing a weaker defense could be a lucrative bet.
- Matchup Assessments: Evaluate the matchups carefully. A star running back facing the league's top rushing defense might not hit their average yardage. Conversely, a top receiver against a team with weak secondary defense might exceed expectations.
- Weather and Conditions: The weather can significantly affect player performance, especially for outdoor games. High winds can limit passing games, while rain can make it tough for receivers to catch long passes.
- Historical Trends: Look at historical data. Some players may have a history of performing exceptionally well or poorly against certain teams or in particular situations.
- Coaching Strategies: Stay updated on team strategies. Coaching decisions can influence a player's opportunity to perform, like a shift towards a more aggressive passing game which could mean more targets for receivers.
- In-Game Scenarios: Consider the context of the game. A team that's ahead may run the ball more to keep the clock moving, benefiting running backs' props like total rushing yards.
- Bankroll Management: Keep your bankroll in check. Don't place all your funds on one prop; diversify your bets to manage risk.
- Line Shopping: Compare odds across different sportsbooks. Even small differences can be significant over time, so shop for the best lines for your chosen props.
- Timing Your Bets: Monitor line movements. Placing your bet at the right time, when the lines are most favorable, can be as crucial as the bet itself.
- Keeping an Eye on the News: Injuries, trades, and team news can all affect props. Keep an eye on updates right up to game time to catch any critical changes.
By incorporating these strategies into your betting routine, you can boost your chances of finding valuable bets and making your NFL viewing experience even more thrilling. Remember, the key to successful prop betting is research and disciplined wagering. Use the insights gained from these strategies to place smart, informed bets. With practice and patience, you could enhance your NFL player prop betting game.
