Player prop bets, often called “props,” focus on individual players' actions rather than the overall game result. They're popular in various sports, especially in baseball. In the MLB, these bets zoom in on specific player achievements such as hits, total bases, home runs, pitcher strikeouts, steals, etc.
Looking for a place to try these out? Head over to a major sportsbook. For instance, FanDuel Sportsbook offers a menu of bets for any MLB game. If you're interested in tonight's matchup between the Braves and Diamondbacks, check out the Same Game Parlay tab for various statistical options.
With a full lineup of games today we are back with some more fantastic picks, starting off with the Royals hosting the Astros, the Athletics at the Rangers, the Orioles taking on the Red Sox, and the Mets at Atlanta. In our lineup for the day, we will look for a young hitter to continue his strong start to the year, a pitcher to continue his form, a game line with some great upside and then finish things off with a same game parlay that has been great this year. Let’s dive in!
Bobby Witt has started off the new season sensationally, willing a Royals team that was one of the worst in the league to three games above .500 already this season. With an uncanny ability to get on base and hit for power, the shortstop was one of the few bright spots in a tough season a year ago, but has now continued his great form and is showing his form for a much more competitive squad. Over his last 10 games, he has hit this line 7 times, giving him implied odds of -233 for that stretch of games.
His hitting has been even better when playing at home in Kauffman Stadium. He is hitting this line at a red-hot 75% hit rate this season at home, including a solid 3 base outing last night against the Astros. In home games, Witt is averaging an immense 2.8 bases per game, putting him well ahead of what he would need for this line. His .333 batting average should provide ample evidence as to his great ability to get on base, while his five doubles, two triples, and two home runs should be more than enough to show that he has the capability of hitting this line any moment he steps up to the plate today.
Bradford is a solid pitcher but faces a tough number to reach here, which is largely why the under is the smart move to take. In his two starts so far this season, Bradford has yet to go over this line, averaging a meager 5 Ks per game. While the Athletics do strikeout more than the average team, it is hard to believe that Bradford can jump a full two above his average so far, especially as both these starts have occurred at home so far.
Going back to last season, the evidence for why he will stay under stands tall. In a mixed variety of starting appearances and relief appearances, Bradford only managed to break this number a single time in 2023, with his average number of strikeouts lagging far behind at 2.2. While he has an opportunity to earn a quality start here, Bradford is unlikely to break this lofty number, making the under the smart value play to take here.

Though the Red Sox had a tough go of things in their home opener against the Orioles last night, there is strong evidence that they should be able to record their first home victory of the season here. First and foremost, they are matching up against Orioles pitcher Cole Irvin, who had an exceptionally rough outing in his first start of the season. Coming up against the Royals, Irvin allowed four earned runs and gave up 7 hits, so his confidence will be low heading into another tough road matchup in Fenway.
Better yet, the Red Sox have a phenomenal track record at Fenway when it comes to matching up against southpaws, particularly those that are struggling with command. Going back to last season, Boston has been exceptional against lefties at home, winning 68% of their contests. In a big bounce back effort, expect the Red Sox to prevail here.
In this section, we are going to be featuring one parlay which we believe has great upside potential for one of the games on the slate. Today we are going to be looking at a same game parlay for the Mets at Atlanta, with Jose Quintana recording at least four strikeouts and Michael Harris having at least one total base. Quintana has a great track record going back to last season, hitting this number in 9 out of his last ten outings. On the other side of the diamond, Harris has had a spectacular start to the season, and has recorded at least one total base in 5 straight heading into this, as well as 8 out of the last 10.
In review, we are taking:
This is currently being offered for +125 on Draftkings, but running it through our parlay optimizer, for the last five games, this parlay has hit in 100% of games.
Looking at a longer stretch of games, this parlay has hit in 80% of the last 10 games, giving it implied odds of -400.
Even going back across all of last season, there is still great value to this play. Hitting in 55% of games, this parlay has implied odds of -121 across the last two seasons.
